I mourn the fact Ford no longer makes this beauty

I bought my first Fusion second hand in 2004 due to the fact that Fiestas were too expensive. This beauty was cheaper because it wasn't as popular. I love 'boxy' cars. The Fusion had a wheel at each corner, fabulous visibility right around the car for parking, you could judge within an inch where the back was. The interior was spacious for such a small car and it NEVER, EVER let me down. In 2013 I bought another; a 2010 plate. My partner is still driving my 2003 plate: no rust on the bodywork and we haven't spent anything apart from annual servicing & tyres - EVER - well maybe a clutch due to my stop - start commute to work, which probably burned the first clutch out. These were amazing cars. OK, not 'sexy' or fast or desirable if you want to show off, but I have never had a car I loved so much - and I have owned high spec Saabs and an Opel Manta. I'm so sorry Ford don't make it anymore. I think there was further mileage for it, why didn't they modify and continue, like the Fiesta? Probably because people didn't love it like I do. So, the 2003 plate we own is getting old (still starts first time!), so we're thinking of something newer. I want boxy, but boxy appears no longer to exist. Please Ford, if you produce a beauty, don't dismiss it so readily, you have customers who want to keep on buying it I can't be the only one!

Being a keen cyclist I don't do many car miles, just 61,000 in the decade since I bought the car. Performance is ok for the 1.4 petrol. It keeps up with the traffic and has a little pep. A bit more would be nice, but seeing as it's a city car that's been over inflated slightly I can't really grumble. Comfort is ok. I'm 6'5" and 270lbs and just fit in ok. The seating position is ok for me and it's comfortable enough. Kit levels are just adequate, but it's a small Ford, not a Maybach. The ride is firm, but fairly well damped, not at all crashy. My only slight moan would be road and wind noise in the cabin. Space is brilliant considering the size of the cars footprint. Decent boot and interior, well proportioned and sensible. Hidden 2nd glove box inside the passenger seat base is nice - not many owners know it's there! It's not too bad for running costs. It's been utterly reliable, only wear and tear costs such as tyres and brakes. Mid forties MPG, not bad. £185 road tax band is then only slight fly in the ointment. And nothing has ever broken or fallen off it. Heck, then original battery lasted 9 years. It's devoid of character and excitement, but if you want something small and practical then it's the sensible cardigan wearing alternative to something like a Modus. That's just fine by me because I need a car, not something to impress the neighbours who probably couldn't care less anyway.

Starts first time everytime and is an easy and comfortable drive. There is little power in the 1.4 petrol model and hill driving can be a real bind but once up to speed it can happily motor along. Just don't slow down!

Apart from an exhaust and tyres - faultless since I bought it. Excellent driving position and comfortable to drive. Excellent mpg - on all types of journey. Not everybody's style - but if you want comfort and reliability this is the car.

At the post pension age I am, it is possibly ideal. My grandsons really dont give it any credence! I would prefer something else, but this will do.

I've had my 58 plate fusion for five years, and in that time I've had nothing but problems with the battery going flat when the car isn't used for a few days, it was only the other week when the battery went flat did I find out what was causing the problem, at the time I couldn't remember the radio code, anyway I forgot all about putting the code in, and as I don't use the radio very much I didn't bother, result, the car stood in my drive for about five days, when went out to see if there was any life in the battery, to my surprise the car started, so its was the radio draining the battery, so I haven't bothered putting the code in, now the car starts first time even after standing for a few days, so perhaps FORDS COULD SOLVE THIS PROBLEM CONCERNING THE RADIO IN THE FORD FUSION SEMI AUTOMATIC,

Mainly used on a short commute to work and weekend shopping, but still get 50 mpg. Looks like the front end of a Ford Connect, sounds like a tractor when cold, not the fastest vehicle off the line, but she goes. CD player jumps when going over bumps. Heated front screen, air conditioning, good driving position. Old fashioned maybe, perhaps its a pity they don't make them like this anymore.

Although it is not stylish and shabby around the edges it has been a great car. Miles per gallon at 60 and road tax at £30 it is really cheap to use as a workhorse. The comfort levels are OK but I do think the suspension could be better but as it is based on the old Fiesta not bad. Space is great and with the seats down can fit almost anything including 2.4m pieces of wood or 4 bikes even a fridge freezer I will sad to see it good when I trade up next year

I find this car extremely suitable for my style of life. My running cost including fuel, insurance, road tax and services/repairs is 25p per mile which I think is very good. The room in the boot when the rear seats are lowered allows me to carry projector stand, screen, stool, laptops, projector and various other bits and pieces when I go out to give talks.

Nice nippy car, have not had any breakdowns - do find servicing quite expensive, last year was the cat converter/ cam belt then this year a suspension leg and brake disc's. Love the quick clear screen in the winter.

This is a comfortable car, easy to get in and out of due to being higher than other small Ford cars which means you sit higher and have good vision. It is ideal for any one with bad joints as you can slip into it rather than crouch down to get in. It has all the power I need and is easy to drive being an automatic. Plenty of space for grandchildren, shopping, luggage. The rear seats are also comfortable and have good vision. A great little car. I don't think of it as a small car as there is so much space!

My car has been the most reliable I have ever owned. It starts first time in all weathers and held the road well in the snow. Has good all round visibility and is easy to park. With a family to run around to clubs etc it has been a workhorse and I would recommend it to anyone needing a small family car.

I am not very tall and a car with a high seating position is ideal for me. It also enables me to get out of the car by sliding down as opposed to heaving myself up. The other main advantage is the size of the boot, as I frequently have to carry boxes and bags when going out to give lecture-demonstrations to WIs etc. These are more important to me than the probable extra cost of fuel.

I bought this car on recommendation from other owners. It has proved to be the best car I have ever had in 45 years. Driving position is particularly good, high up to survey the road ahead and splendid all round vision. Together with the mpg and running costs it has also improved by budget and has all the space I need for my lifestyle.
