Can you charge your car at home or work? Do you prefer lower running costs, but don't fancy an EV? PHEV is the answer you’re looking for. Plug-in hybrid cars are positioned to sit between a conventional car and a fully electric car. They come with an internal combustion engine as well as an electric motor that can be charged by plugging in like an electric car. With this, you get the best of both worlds - quick acceleration and the efficiency of an EV minus the range anxiety as there is a petrol/diesel engine that runs on fuel.

PHEVs also offer other advantages such as low CO2 emissions leading to low monthly costs making them a great company car option. They are a great option if you want to save money on fuel or use it as a precursor before going fully electric. Plus, PHEVs offer a longer fully electric range than normal hybrids. However, make sure to plug-in a PHEV as it will entirely run on petrol/diesel when there is no charge, which in turn will affect the MPG and emissions. There are plenty of used PHEVs available today in varying budgets and body styles.
