A high roof van is all about volume. The taller roofline gives you extra cubic space for bulky loads, taller racking, or even the ability to stand up inside on some models, which can make a big difference for couriers, trades and conversion buyers. The trade off is height, and that affects everyday practicality. Before you buy, check the van’s stated overall height and compare it with the places you use most: multi storey car parks, underground loading bays, drive throughs and height restricted depots.
Used high roof vans are often bought for specialist work, so look for roof damage, dents and evidence of water leaks. Check the rear doors and high-level hinges for wear, and inspect the load area for scuffs and floor damage from pallet trucks. A high roof can also be more sensitive to crosswinds, and a fully loaded van can feel top heavy, so make sure you’re comfortable on a motorway test drive.
As with any used van, buy on condition and history. Confirm servicing is up to date, and check the MOT record for corrosion and suspension issues. If you’re unsure, an AA inspection can help you judge the van’s real condition before you commit.
