Purpose-built as a front-mid-engined, rear-wheel drive sports coupe (and later Roadster), the AMG GT channels much of the excitement of Mercedes’ earlier SLS, but with added comfort and the ability to serve as an everyday car – albeit a particularly powerful and stylish one. Owners love the rich engine sound, the distinctive looks and the composed feel on the road. Sold in the UK between 2015 and 2023, the AMG GT went through several updates. All versions promise impressive power and agile handling, with models from 2019 onwards gaining a digital dash, improved infotainment and sharper looks. The S model and GT R offer even more powerful engines, but all versions feature the same base 4.0-litre V8, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The AMG GT competes with the Porsche 911 and Audi R8, standing out with dramatic styling and a seriously fun drive.
