Volkswagen has announced that its new Polo model, the BlueMotion, will be previewed at a green car show at the Eden Project in Cornwall this spring, before going on sale in the UK in the summer.
The event, named the ‘Sexy Green Car Show’, will run from March 30th until April 15th and will showcase some of the most "advanced and efficient" vehicles in the world.
Among the features of the BlueMotion which place it in this category are revised aerodynamics, a low kerb weight, hard compound tyres that reduce rolling resistance and lightweight wheels.
The model is powered by a three-cylinder diesel engine that is linked to optimised gear ratios, which is capable of offering economy gains and reductions in carbon emissions.
Gus Grand, producer of the Eden Project show, said: "It’s great news that Volkswagen will be joining us at Eden.
"These greener versions of already established models show just what the car-makers can do to make significant changes to the fuel efficiency of their vehicles."
The Polo BlueMotion will boast a range of standard equipment alongside its advanced features, including ABS, electric windows, a CD stereo, unique interior trim, six airbags and a trip computer.
