Every Volkswagen ID.7 is electric. The first models (2023) use a 77 kWh battery with a 282 bhp motor powering the rear wheels. An 86 kWh version and a dual-motor GTX are also on the way. You won’t find petrol or diesel options – just smooth, quiet EV power.
All versions feature a 15-inch touchscreen with satnav, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also an augmented-reality head-up display, wireless phone charging and voice control. Most trims include heated, massaging seats and keyless entry, so even the standard models feel well-equipped.
Efficiency is measured in miles per kWh. Officially, the Volkswagen ID.7 manages 3.8–4.5 mi/kWh, giving a real-world range of around 300 miles. With careful driving and ideal conditions, up to 383 miles is possible, but expect less if you’re mostly on motorways.

Electric drivetrains are simple by design, and Volkswagen’s have proved robust. While some earlier ID models had software frustrations, the Volkswagen ID.7 benefits from improved systems.
