Every Volkswagen Tayron includes strong standard safety tech: autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, and driver fatigue monitoring. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert also come as standard on most versions. Advanced LED headlights, optional surround cameras and semi-autonomous driving aids can be fitted on higher trims.

Most Tayrons come with a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol, a 2.0-litre petrol in two power outputs, or a 2.0-litre diesel in two states of tune. There’s also a 5-seater plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The most powerful petrol and diesel models get four-wheel drive, and all versions use an automatic gearbox.

The Tayron is well equipped even in entry-level trim. It features a 10.3-inch digital driver display and a 12.9-inch central touchscreen, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto across the range. Higher trims bring a bigger 15-inch touchscreen, integrated navigation, wireless charging and even ChatGPT voice assistance. All models are fitted with parking sensors, a rear-view camera and adaptive cruise control.

The 1.5-litre petrol returns up to around 44mpg, with diesels up to around 52mpg. The plug-in hybrid is officially rated for up to 706mpg (weighted combined), though real-world figures depend on how often you charge and how you drive. CO2 emissions vary from just 9g/km (PHEV) to around 150g/km for standard engines.

As the Tayron is a 2025 model, used examples are hard to find – most will be nearly-new. Check all on-board tech works, especially touchscreen controls and charging functions on hybrids.
