Overall rating 4/5The sporty looks blend with surprising comfort to make a distinguished coupe. The RCZ was designed to take on the likes of the Audi TT and Volkswagen Scirocco, adding flair and value to Peugeot’s line-up between 2010 and 2015. Owners love its standout styling, playful handling, and the kind of comfort you don’t usually expect from a sleek coupe. The boot is also usefully sized for day-to-day needs. In 2012, a facelift brought fresher looks and more equipment, followed in 2013 by the high-performance RCZ R model. Against rivals, the RCZ often wins on price without sacrificing style, though space in the rear is tight. Today, the RCZ is sought after as a modern classic, offering a rare mix of design and usability.
Every Peugeot RCZ comes with electronic stability control, multiple airbags, and ISOFIX child seat mounts in the rear. Later models added improved safety kit as standard, such as automatic headlights and parking sensors, helping you drive and park with confidence.
Across its run, the RCZ offered two turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engines (in 156 or 200bhp), a 2.0-litre diesel, and the 267bhp 1.6-litre engine in the RCZ R. Both manual and automatic gearboxes were available, though the automatic was only with lower-powered petrol models.
RCZ models include air conditioning, sports seats and alloy wheels as standard, with later or higher-spec cars offering leather upholstery, updated sat-nav, Bluetooth and climate control. The RCZ R further adds sportier interior details. Although most controls are straightforward, some users found the sat-nav less intuitive.
Official figures put combined fuel economy between 38 and 54mpg, with the 2.0-litre diesel proving most economical at over 50mpg. Petrol models generally manage around 40mpg. Real-world figures may be less, especially on short runs or with brisk driving.
Focus on complete service history, check the full functionality of the sat-nav and infotainment – which can be fiddly – and inspect the paintwork and roof/arches for any damage. For a thorough review, consider The AA Vehicle Inspection.
The RCZ will reward you if you maintain it well. Engines are shared with other Peugeot and BMW models, and major issues are uncommon. However, some electrical niggles or interior wear may happen with age, so regular upkeep pays off.
