Most Peugeot Rifters come with front, side and curtain airbags, three ISOFIX child seat mounts, autonomous emergency braking and lane-keeping assistance. The Rifter scored four stars in Euro NCAP's 2018 testing, with especially impressive adult and child occupant protection.

Peugeot Rifters from 2018–2021 featured either a 1.2-litre PureTech petrol or a 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel engine. The 128bhp diesel was also available as an eight-speed automatic. From 2022 the range shifted to electric power as the e-Rifter, best suited to city driving or short hops.

Used Rifters from the Allure trim upwards have an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, air conditioning, rear parking sensors, cruise control and automatic emergency braking. Entry-level Active models cover the basics but may lack the touchscreen, so check the spec closely.

The Peugeot Rifter is efficient for its size. Expect around 41–43mpg for the 1.2-litre petrol and between 50–57mpg for the 1.5-litre diesel, depending on power output and driving style. The fully electric e-Rifter has a range of up to 172 miles (WLTP) per charge.

Peugeot sits mid-table in UK reliability surveys. While the Rifter itself hasn't topped the charts, the engines and major parts have proven dependable in other Peugeot and Citroën models.
