On top of plenty of room for passengers and luggage, you'll get reliability you can count on. Introduced in the late 1980s, the Pathfinder’s UK popularity peaked with the third generation (2005–2012). These models were known for their sturdy chassis and powerful diesel engines. Later variants saw improved cabin comfort and more refined interiors, keeping Pathfinder in line with rivals like the Mitsubishi Shogun and Toyota Land Cruiser. Features such as selectable four-wheel drive and a robust towing capacity set the Pathfinder apart from softer SUVs. So, it's especially useful for towing caravans or tackling rough ground. The UK Pathfinder is best known for its 2.5-litre dCi diesel engine, offering strong torque for towing and respectable fuel economy for its size. A 4.0-litre V6 petrol is also available, but it's rare and far less economical. Later versions of the diesel gained small efficiency and emissions improvements, but the 2.5 dCi is still the mainstay.
Even entry-level Pathfinders come with air conditioning, electric windows and a CD stereo.
