The Land Rover Defender 90 sits at the base of the Defender lineup as the smallest and the most affordable version. As it only features three doors, it is considerably shorter than the 5-door Defender models. This makes it easy to potter around cities and to park in tight bays. However, the reduction in size comes at the cost of boot space, which is just 297 litres. The cabin space is impressive for a three-door but getting in and out of the second row can be an exercise.
In terms of powertrain options, the Defender 90 gets the same petrol/diesel engines and a full-blown, supercharged 5.0-litre V8! Unfortunately, Land Rover does not offer a plug-in hybrid version of the 90 like it does with the bigger 110. If that is not a problem, and you could live with the tiny boot and lack of two doors, the Defender 90 is as good as it gets. Prices for used models start from as low as £15,000 for the older generations, going all the way to near £100,000 for the P525 V8 variants.
