The Renault Twingo was awarded a four-star safety rating when it was crash tested by Euro NCAP back in 2014. All versions of the Twingo are efficient, achieving up to 67.3mpg combined from the entry-level 1.0-litre engine. However, even the 0.9-litre turbocharged unit does well in this area with up to 65.7mpg and you’ll only notice a small drop in economy by choosing an automatic gearbox version.

There are a few areas to check on any used Renault Twingo you might be looking at. Models made between 2014 and 2017 could suffer from an issue whereby the bonnet ‘skin’ could separate from the primary metalwork, so make sure that everything looks safe and that any the car has been taken to a dealer to be looked at if it falls within that age.
