There might not be much to like about the Vaneo at face value - its odd name, tall body and extended rear aren't particularly enticing - but as a spacious and practical family car, it excels. Originally conceived as a van, the Vaneo later evolved into a passenger car, but there remains plenty of van-like qualities to it. A high roofline brings about plenty of interior cabin space, while a seven seat variety makes sure that there?s space for large, or growing families. Its height means that there can be substantial body roll on the road, and a firm ride takes away much of its cruising ability, but reliability and economy from its 1.7 litre diesel make it a competent left-field choice.
