  Honda Civic

It may not always have been the most stylish or desirable hatchback around, but it has arguably been the most dependable.Now coming exclusively with Honda’s full-hybrid powertrain called e:HEV, it's positioned as a high quality alternative to the Vauxhall Astra and Volkswagen Golf, while also rubbing shoulders in the efficiency stakes with the excellent Toyota Corolla.

  Citroen Ami

  It is very difficult to approach the Citroen Ami like any other car… because it isn’t really a car. Officially, it is classed as a light quadricycle (L6), which means it doesn’t have to play by the same homologation rules as other vehicles and as a result, it can make things tricky with insurance through the traditional channels. With a maximum range of around 47-miles and a top speed that can be beaten by some cyclists, it is limited to inner-city or urban mobility, where Ami shines. It’s very basic, but as something to nip around town in, it’s very difficult to fault, and you won’t be short of passers-by stopping to have a look around the fantastically basic interior.

Which is why, despite the Polestar 2 being a successful seller, especially here in the UK, the Swedish brand had to expand its offering. The Polestar 3 and 4 are the answers, with the 3 being Polestar’s large electric SUV offering to rival the likes of the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron, and Mercedes EQE SUV.

It stands out due to its clean, fuss-free Scandinavian design, heavily influenced by sister-brand Volvo, and is marketed as a car with advanced technology and engaging dynamics as core to its appeal. Although a relatively new brand, Polestar’s affinity with Volvo means that it’s also one of the most desirable EV-only brands and enjoys stronger residual values than many rivals.
