Overall rating 4/5
Launching in 1999, the Fabia showed a more refined side to the firm, while still offering great value for money. Now being one of the roomiest and best-equipped cars in its segment, and a great all-rounder in the small car segment.

Overall rating 4/5As with much of the more recent Skoda range, the Fabia is a surprisingly excellent car which tops reliability and customer satisfaction polls, has been universally well received among critics, and offers serious competition to the leading superminis on the market such as the Ford Fiesta and the VW Polo (with which it shares a platform). As well as being affordable (to both run and buy), mature and practical, the Fabia has few faults other than that the Skoda name remains a little uncool. But, ultimately it is cars much like these which are the reason that that reputation is quickly becoming as redundant as an 70s and 80s-era Skoda used to be.
