Lancer Evolution X sales speed out of traps

Orders for the new Lancer Evolution X from Mitsubishi have almost been too much to keep up with, according to the manufacturer.

All of the stock expected for March 1st, when the car goes on sale, has been snapped up by eager road enthusiasts.

Both versions of the model – five-speed manual and 6-speed Twin Clutch transmission types – were popular attractions at the Autosport International Show 2008, something which one Mitsubishi official claimed is indicative of the car’s quality.

"The number of people at our stand for the duration of this show is yet further evidence of the broad appeal of this new Evolution," said Lance Bradley, Mitsubishi’s sales and marketing director.

Mitsubishi has so far produced ten different versions of the Lancer Evolution, all of which have a two-litre, turbo-charged engine in addition to a four-wheel drive system, allowing both power and control.
