Although yet another competitor in the compact SUV class, the ASX comes from a manufacturer with a solid reputation for producing competent and top performing utility vehicles, so, at the very least a good, solid engine is all but guaranteed. The entry level 1.6 litre petrol engine is reasonably brisk, but the 1.8 litre diesel is understandably the more pleasing, stronger option. Although not as dynamic to drive as some of its rivals, the ASX makes up for its lack of excitement by ensuring that the ride is at all times smooth and comfortable.
