Mitsubishi Colt given stamp of approval

Parker’s Car Guides has given its approval to the three-door Mitsubishi Colt, saying that the model offers a quality, affordable motoring option.

The Colt is a versatile vehicle, spacious and good to drive, yet it is "often overlooked", according to the guide.

Among the range of standard equipment with the Colt CZ1 is remote central locking, twin airbags, electric front windows, a trip computer and rear seats that split, fold and recline.

A 1.1-litre, three-cylinder engine powers the car and is described as "feisty and economical".

In the family car segment, Parker’s describes the Renault Laguna as "a bargain", with low prices currently available ahead of the introduction of a new model later in the year.

Volvo’s XC70 is in its last months of production and is therefore the subject of healthy discounts at dealerships, potential car buyers are advised. Also in the 4×4/people carrier market, the Fiat Multipla is recommended owing to its capability to seat six people while also offering 430 litres of luggage space.

For people looking for a specialist car, Parker’s points out that some Daihatsu Copen convertible models can currently be picked up for under £10,000 at some dealers, owing to the recent engine change the range has undergone.
