Expert Opinion

Although initially produced only for the USA, the Murano was introduced to the UK in 2004 due to fantastic success Stateside. Its success over here may not have been as so comprehensive as across the pond - presumably perhaps for the fact that its considerable size is at odds with the often claustrophobic roads of Britain. Luxurious and well-equipped in its one trim level, the Murano is certainly one of the most comfortable and sophisticated large SUVs on the market, which along with a smooth ride and decent refinement make it a car of leisurely ability. The 2.5 litre diesel is far and above the best model in the range, and mixes good efficiency, low down pull and power to match many of its rivals. While it may never be as at home on UK roads as its sibling the Qashqai, the Murano is a comfortable and pleasantly imposing alternative.
