While the original Citroen C4 was introduced in 2005, the second-generation car - launched in 2010 - brings a better blend of equipment and technology when you’re shopping in the used car market. Available in five-door form only, it targeted a comfortable and refined driving experience coupled with an intuitive interior that delivered plenty of space.
Today, the Citroen C4 represents excellent value-for-money when shopping used and, when you consider this car’s efficient engine options, makes this a great option for those on a budget.
The Citroen C4 has a full electronic stability control system and a speed assistance function, too. A standard-fit seatbelt reminder will ensure that everyone is buckled up, too. When tested in 2010, the Citroen C4 was awarded the full five stars by Euro NCAP with this car’s 90 per cent adult occupant protection rating being particularly impressive.
There’s the option of a 1.2-litre petrol engine on the Citroen C4 and it’s available with a number of outputs to ensure that there’s a version for all. After this, there’s a 1.6-litre diesel and a larger, more powerful 2.0-litre diesel as well.
All versions of the Citroen C4 get features such as air conditioning, cruise control and a CD player. There’s also a good level of steering wheel adjustment included as standard, ensuring you can get into the right driving position for you. The C4 is available in a wide number of specifications, too, with higher-end versions bringing features such as satellite navigation and parking sensors.
Petrol-powered Citroen C4 models can deliver up to 60.1mpg in select models, ensuring that these will be very cost-efficient to run. Diesel-powered versions, meanwhile, can return up to 78.5mpg during combined driving.
The Citroen C4 is a popular family car so check the rear seats for upholstery damage and any scuffs and scrapes. Likewise, look at the doors for any car park dings or paint abrasions. For more details, an AA Vehicle Inspection can help. With it, a trained technician will take a detailed look at any car you’re looking to buy and will generate a detailed report highlighting any key issues on the car.
The Citroen C4 has a decent track record for reliability, though it’s worth checking out our owner’s reviews page to see any common issues which may have arisen. Again, an AA vehicle inspection can help to provide some extra clarity about any used Citroen C4 that you’re looking at.
The Citroen C4 is available with 1.2-litre petrol engines as well as 1.6- and 2.0-litre diesel engines.
