Vauxhall Astra up there in the image stakes

With many motorists basing their choice of car decisions on its appearance, the new Vauxhall Astra could be set to do exceptionally well, a reviewer believes.

Malcolm Robertshaw states in the Dumfries and Galloway Standard that the previous Astra was the first car in the range to turn heads.

However, he reveals that the new Astra has upped the ante further with the three-door Sport Hatch SXi fairing "even better in the image stakes".

Part of the new appearance, according to Mr Robertshaw, is the inclusion of short overhangs at the front and rear, which provides "a much leaner look".

Meanwhile, a lower suspension helps to give the car a "low, purposeful stance on the tarmac".

Furthermore, Mr Robertshaw indicates that both drivers and passengers benefit from good all-round headroom and the boot is not a bad shape and size.

He concludes with the opinion that the Vauxhall Astra Sport Hatch SXi is "a handsome looker, well built and decently kitted out".

The Vauxhall Astra is available in colours including Metro Blue, Sovereign Silver and Black Sapphire.
