All recent Grandland models come with essentials like lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and ISOFIX mounts in the outer rear seats and front passenger seat. The Grandland started with 1.2-litre petrol, 1.6-litre diesel and 2.0-litre diesel engines, all turbocharged for extra punch. Plug-in hybrid versions are also available, offering lower running costs and a short electric-only range for city journeys.

Most Grandland models come with a touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth and DAB radio. Upper trims add features like a digital driver display, satnav, wireless charging and a reversing camera. Newer models include many of these features on the entry-level trim.

You can expect up to 44–51mpg from the 1.2-litre petrol and a little better economy from earlier diesel models – up to 70mpg for the 1.6-litre diesel. Plug-in hybrids can achieve impressive figures for short urban commutes if you charge regularly, while running costs for the newer mild-hybrid stay efficient for a car of its size.

Vauxhall has some improving reliability scores, but the Grandland sits mid-table among its SUV rivals. Major issues are uncommon, though some owners report bugs with infotainment and other electrical components, as well as small niggles. Regular servicing helps, and most faults are minor rather than major.
