Peugeot 207 CC will open “a new world for everyone”

Peugeot has promoted the launch of its new 207 CC, saying that the new car will be just as revolutionary as the 206 CC proved to be.

According to the automaker, the 206 changed the UK convertible car market forever as it "broke new ground" in technology, manufacturing and entry price.

Through its affordability, Peugeot states that the 2006 brought a coupe cabriolet with an electric folding roof into "the price range of everyone".

"With the launch of the Peugeot 207 CC in March 2007, it will replace the legendary Peugeot 206 CC," the company said in a statement.

Two petrol engines and one diesel unit will be available in the 207 when it is launched – the petrol engines have been developed through cooperation between Peugeot Citroen and BMW, reportedly using technology not normally found in this segment of the market.

Two trim levels are also available on the car – sport and GT – as well as a five-speed manual gearbox with the 1.6-litre petrol engine or a four-speed automatic gearbox.

The car will also have a range of safety innovations, including a specially strengthened structure to compensate for the absence of a roof, an active roll-over protection system and five airbags.
