Hybrid Lexus cars reach record numbers

New statistics from Lexus have shown that the company’s hybrid cars are proving to be a big hit.

Of all the cars sold by the manufacturer, 28 per cent are energy-efficient in this way, with the firm claiming a record volume market share for September.

The manufacturer added that the 3,381 models it sold in September represents the highest single month volume it has claimed.

Furthermore, its RX 400h model is the company’s biggest-selling car in Europe at the moment.

"Our advanced technology strategy is proving its value, quality, effectiveness and reliability, helping make Lexus the first choice for an ever greater number," said Steve Settle, director at Lexus.

Lexus is the luxury car division of Toyota and was established by the Japanese manufacturer in 1989.

In a 2006 Vehicle Dependability Study, the brand was named the most reliable car in the US by JD Power and Associates.
