Introduced in 1984, the Renault Espace is one of Europe’s pioneering family MPVs. Over six generations, it has evolved dramatically from MPV practicality to a crossover​-inspired design melding SUV styling with people​-carrier flexibility. Compared to rivals like the Ford S-Max, Kia Sorento or Skoda Kodiaq, the Espace stands out for interior flexibility, adaptable seats, panoramic roof option, strong safety tech, digital dials and efficient hybrid engines. Earlier Espace models (up to 2014) offered petrol and diesel engines, mainly 2.0 and 2.2 litres and later 1.6-litre units for improved efficiency. The 2015-2022 Espace brought downsized turbo petrols and diesels. The newest generation from 2023 is hybrid-only, combining a 1.2-litre petrol with electric power for good performance and low emissions.
Depending on the year, the Espace offers digital driver displays, a central touchscreen, satellite navigation, Bluetooth and USB ports.
