Suzuki has had a longstanding presence in the UK, having started selling cars here back in the 1960s. Throughout that period, it has created all manner of vehicles which are built with the same great level of reliability, delivered a cost-effective price. Today, Suzuki has a more diverse range than ever and one which also uses hybrid technology to help with efficiency.
The Suzuki Swift, first released in the UK in 2004, is a compact supermini which is brisk, nimble and economic, and did much to advertise the manufacturer's abilities at producing simple but fun cars. Even smaller are the Splash and Alto, both compact yet practical, and both offering a fun and engaging drive. The Grand Vitara compact SUV has been a mainstay of the Suzuki range since the late 80s, and has remained popular for its affordability and good off road abilities. With sales increasing year on year, Suzuki are fast finding popularity for their mass appeal, their sense of fun, and their good run costs.
All modern Suzuki cars get a great range of safety features, with highlights include traction control system and electronic stability control programmes. More complex features are found on many cars too, such as lane keep assist and blind-spot monitoring on certain models.
Nearly all cars within the Suzuki range offer great fuel efficiency. The latest version of the popular Swift, for instance, can return over 60mpg, while full hybrid versions of the S-Cross SUV can manage over 50mpg combined. In fact, it’s the use of hybrid technology across the Suzuki range which has helped its cars to return excellent efficiency, and you’ll find plenty of these on the used market today too.
The price range for Suzuki models is broad. For instance, you can pick up an early Swift model for just over £2,000, or a Vitara for just over £8,000. Cars like the Celerio had a low starting price when new, which is why you can now pick up low-mileage examples for just over £2,000. Sought-after cars like the Jimny four-wheel-drive command higher prices, mind you, with even earlier 2012 models fetching just under £8,000 despite high mileage.
Today, Suzuki offers a hybrid setup with every new car it sells, ranging from Ignis through to Across. This is a mix of mild hybrids, which only offer a small amount of electrical assistance, and regular hybrids, which can travel on electric-only power for very short periods and at slower speeds. Suzuki offers one plug-in hybrid - the Across - which can manage up to 46 miles of electric-only range. It has yet to release an electric vehicle, however.
Suzuki cars have an excellent track record for reliability with this manufacturer’s cars routinely ranking highly in reliability surveys. Of course, to keep this going, Suzuki cars still need to be well-maintained, so look for plenty of service history when looking at a used example.
Many of Suzuki’s cars, such as the Swift, Alto and Ignis, are popular with first-time drivers, so we’d be checking them over for any parking-related grazes or heavy clutch wear ,which could result in slipping. If you’d rather have a professional take a look, then an AA Vehicle Inspection could be a great way to go. With it, a trained engineer will take a look at the car before creating a detailed summary of their findings.
Definitely - an AA Vehicle Inspection is available on all types of cars, including Suzukis.
Today, you’ll find that a variety of the latest Suzuki models can be leased through our dedicated site.
