Overall rating 4.5/5The Seat Mii was one of a trio of city cars which came from the wider Volkswagen Group. It’s mechanically identical to the Volkswagen Up! and Skoda Citigo but, in usual Seat fashion, has a little extra flair than its German and Czech cousins. Remarkably practical for its size, the Mii manages to bring a lot more interior space than you might think.
Its range of compact and efficient engines make this an ideal first car choice, too, though drivers after a car that won’t break the bank in terms of running costs will no doubt find the Seat Mii’s simple design and easy-to-maintain layout very appealing too. An electric version of the Mii was also produced - bringing the potential for even lower running costs - but these aren’t as common to find on the used market.

The Seat Mii gets a good suite of standard safety equipment, including a range of airbags that will protect both front and rear passengers. A seatbelt reminder is equipped as standard, too, and there are ISOFIX child seat mounting points in the rear of the car, too. Speed assistance and a lane assist system are both included as standard as well.
The Seat Mii is available with a single engine option - a three-cylinder 1.0-litre unit - though it can be found in one of two states of tune, either 59 or 74bhp. Drivers who are often on higher-speed roads or motorways would be better served picking the latter, though the former is still powerful enough for around-town driving. The electric version has an 83bhp motor and a claimed range of 161 miles.
The Seat Mii comes equipped as standard with a CD player, body-coloured bumpers and ISOFIX chuld seat anchoring points. Seat Miis in SE grade feature air conditioning, alloy wheels and electric front windows while later FR models added in sportier touches like 16-inch alloy wheels and a flat-bottomed steering wheel, among other features.
When the Seat Mii was tested under the older NEDC system, it came with a claimed consumption figure of 62.8mpg for the lower-powered engine and 60.1mpg for the more powerful version. A special Ecomotive version was even more efficient and could return up to 68.9mpg under the NEDC tests.
As a popular first-time car, we’d recommend looking over the exterior of the Seat Mii to ensure that it hasn’t picked up any car park prangs. Because of this use, we’d also be testing the clutch to make sure that it is working as it should - watch out for a ‘biting point’ which feels too high. An AA Vehicle Inspection could add extra peace of mind through its comprehensive check-over conducted by a trained technician.
Thanks to their Volkswagen Group relations, Seat Mii cars should prove to be quite reliable. The engines that it uses are relatively uncomplicated while the interior is robustly made. However, if you’d like some extra detail about any car you’re looking at, then consider getting an AA Vehicle Inspection conducted. With it, a trained mechanic will go over any car that you’re looking at and highlight any potential issues.
The Seat Mii is available with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine in two states of tune. An electric version is also available.
