If you're after premium style and comfort but still need everyday practicality, the Infiniti EX is a great fit. First arriving in the UK in 2009, the EX (later known as the QX50) was Infiniti’s answer to rivals like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5. It offered strong V6 engines, an easygoing ride and a distinctive, well-built cabin. Sold here until around 2013, the Infinity EX built a quiet reputation for comfort and reliability, even if it was less common on UK roads than some competitors. Leather upholstery, premium sound and clever driver tech all came as standard, helping the Infinity EX stand out as a well-equipped and capable SUV. Boot space is slightly more limited than others in its class, but rear-seat comfort and passenger space remain strong points.
The Infiniti EX comes equipped with multiple airbags, electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes and active head restraints. Many models also feature a 360-degree camera system and forward collision warning – handy additions for both urban and motorway driving.
UK models typically come with a 3.7-litre petrol V6 in earlier versions, while a 3.0-litre diesel V6 was added later. Both engines are paired with a seven-speed automatic gearbox, delivering seamless performance and strong overtaking power.
Even base models are well equipped, usually offering touchscreen navigation, Bluetooth, a premium Bose audio system and keyless entry. Higher trims add heated leather seats, adaptive cruise control and surround-view cameras for easier parking.
If you’re looking at the 3.7-litre petrol V6, you can expect around 25–28 mpg in most situations, while official figures range up to 33 mpg depending on spec. The 3.0-litre diesel is a bit more efficient, with many drivers seeing around 33 mpg in real-world driving. It’s not as economical as newer hybrid SUVs, but if you value capable performance, the Infinity EX still holds its own.
Look for a full service history, especially for regular automatic transmission servicing. Check the suspension for any knocking sounds and ensure the infotainment screen works properly. Since it’s a less common model, confirm that parts and servicing are accessible – The AA Vehicle Inspection is a good way to double-check everything.
Yes – Infiniti models share much of their engineering with Nissan, which is known for dependable mechanicals. That said, since Infiniti withdrew from the UK market in 2020, some parts may take longer to source. Regular servicing from a trusted specialist is key to keeping things running smoothly.
