The Infiniti M was designed to take on established luxury saloons from the likes of BMW, Mercedes and Jaguar. While less common on UK roads, its excellent standard kit and high-quality interior immediately stands out, making it an interesting pick. It was released in the UK in 2010 up until 2013 before being renamed the Q70. The car comes loaded with features such as heated and ventilated seats, a premium Bose sound system and advanced safety tech, providing true comfort and convenience on the move. Engine choices include a strong V6 petrol, smooth diesel and advanced petrol-hybrid option, all paired with automatic gearboxes. Performance is competitive though can come with higher running costs than other models.
The Infiniti M is fitted with loads of safety kit, including multiple airbags, active head restraints and advanced anti-lock brakes. If you opt for a higher spec, you'll get blind spot warnings and autonomous braking to help prevent an accident.
The most common engine options include a 3.7-litre V6 petrol, a 3.0-litre V6 diesel and a 3.5-litre V6 hybrid. The petrol V6 produces around 315bhp, while the diesel offers 235bhp with improved torque and economy. The hybrid's performance is close to the petrol version but with better emissions.
The Infiniti M comes generously equipped as standard. Expect an integrated infotainment system with touchscreen, sat nav, DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity. Premium models have a Bose surround sound system, electric heated and ventilated seats, cruise control and a rear-view camera.
Official fuel consumption varies depending on the engine. Testing showed it can achieve between 26 and 58mpg, with the petrol engine being on the lower end and the hybrid rating top. This is an area where the Infiniti M doesn't beat most of its rivals.
Check for a full service history, as regular maintenance is important. Common checks include the functioning of seat electrics, infotainment and the hybrid battery. Go for a thorough test drive to check the gearbox and electronics. For extra peace of mind, consider arranging a professional check via The AA Vehicle Inspection.
The Infiniti M has a strong reputation for reliability, helped by its Nissan engineering roots. Owners report very few faults, though running costs can be higher than some German competitors, particularly when it comes to parts and servicing.
