Known for its engaging driving experience, the BMW 4 Series appeals to buyers seeking a car with the dynamic appeal of the 3 Series, but with sharper styling and higher levels of trim. With a wide range of engines and trims, it competes with models such as the Audi A5, Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé, and Lexus RC, offering a blend of sporty handling, everyday usability, and upmarket appeal.
Launched in 2024, the Hyundai Inster marks the Korean brand’s entry into the rapidly growing electric city car segment. Designed to appeal to urban drivers and young families alike, the Inster combines the practicality of a crossover with the efficiency and low running costs of a fully electric drivetrain. Compact yet surprisingly spacious, it aims to deliver advanced technology, modern styling, and accessible pricing to a broad range of buyers. It’s positioned below the Kona Electric in Hyundai’s line-up, and competes with other small electric cars such as the Fiat 500e and MINI Electric.
Not many family hatchbacks have a lineage dating all the way back to 1972 – but the Honda Civic has. Over those five decades the Civic has built up an enviable reputation for reliability, efficiency and engineering prowess. It may not always have been the most stylish or desirable hatchback around, but it has arguably been the most dependable. Now coming exclusively with Honda’s full-hybrid powertrain called e:HEV, it's positioned as a high quality alternative to the Vauxhall Astra and Volkswagen Golf, while also rubbing shoulders in the efficiency stakes with the excellent Toyota Corolla.
It is very difficult to approach the Citroen Ami like any other car… because it isn’t really a car. Officially, it is classed as a light quadricycle (L6), which means it doesn’t have to play by the same homologation rules as other vehicles and as a result, it can make things tricky with insurance through the traditional channels. With a maximum range of around 47-miles and a top speed that can be beaten by some cyclists, it is limited to inner-city or urban mobility, where Ami shines. It’s very basic, but as something to nip around town in, it’s very difficult to fault, and you won’t be short of passers-by stopping to have a look around the fantastically basic interior.
Launched in 2019, the RS Q8 is the flagship of Audi’s SUV line-up, melding the imposing stature of the Q8 with supercar like performance. Its aggressive RS styling, paired with advanced chassis technology and a sumptuous, high-tech interior, creates an SUV that’s as capable on the Nürburgring as it is comfortable for everyday driving. Despite its astonishing price, the RS Q8 stands out as something special – even among rivals such as the BMW X5 M Competition, Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S, Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, Lamborghini Urus and Range Rover Sport SV.
No matter how strong the brand, a carmaker can’t exist for long these days by having just one car in its range. Which is why, despite the Polestar 2 being a successful seller, especially here in the UK, the Swedish brand had to expand its offering. The Polestar 3 and 4 are the answers, with the 3 being Polestar’s large electric SUV offering to rival the likes of the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron, and Mercedes EQE SUV.
