Car of the Week: The Ford RS200

Welcome to our new car of the week section. Here we aim to showcase some of the very best cars that we have to offer on the VCARS site. From rare and beautiful Ferraris to well priced, affordable Peugeots, every week we will either showcase something weird and wonderful, and something that’s bound to be perfect for you. Here, we look at the ultra rare Ford RS200.

The ultimate mid-engined sports car, the RS200 is a true symbol of rallying. Designed and built to meet FIA rallying regulations which stipulated that 200 road legal versions of each rally car must be made, the RS200 was based on Ford’s Group B rally car and was built between 1984 and 1986.

Of course, because only 200 were ever produced, and because the RS200 is so iconic, it is incredibly rare, and that’s why we’ve selected this white RS200 with red bucket seats as our car of the week.

With only one previous owner and only 1,100 miles on the clock, this is the ultimate car for any collector. In fact, it is thought that this could be the only one owner example available in the UK!

Of the 200 road legal vehicles Ford originally produced, 24 were almost immediately transformed into ‘Evolution’ models, with the cars keeping their original serial numbers to ensure that they still complied with the FIA regulations.

This means that this white RS200 with its 1800cc engine which produces 444 bhp is one of the most desirable cars on the market. Of course, at a touch under £200,000, it isn’t affordable for everyone, but if you can afford it, you’ll do well to find better at the price – a real bargain considering the heritage.
