  BMW M4

  Picking up the mantle from the previous two-door versions of the M3, the BMW M4 quickly became a benchmark for high-performance sports coupés and convertibles when the original F82/F83 models appeared in 2014. The latest M4 is offered in both Coupé and Convertible forms, with a range of variants spanning from the standard M4 to the track-honed M4 CS (or earlier, CSL), which isn’t one for shrinking violets. Under the bonnet lies a potent turbocharged six-cylinder engine, sending power to the rear wheels or, in Competition models, all four wheels via BMW’s xDrive system. From 2023, only xDrive models will been offered, so if you want a rear-drive-only car, you’ll need to choose a used one. For driving enthusiasts, the M4 is both a versatile performance car, and a highly desirable one at that.

  BMW M2

  Introduced in 2021 as a compact but ferociously styled two-door coupe, the BMW M2 took the rather subtle 2 Series coupé and evolved it into something wholly more muscular and aggressive. Sharing its underpinnings with the larger M3 and M4, the M2 carves out its own niche thanks to its shorter wheelbase, rear-wheel drive focus, and purist approach to driver engagement. Under the bonnet sits a turbocharged six-cylinder engine, sending power to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox. Offered exclusively as a two-door coupé, it’s accessible, riotous fun to drive and combines it all with surprising levels of comfort and practicality.

  Audi S3

  The S3 has been a feature of Audi’s range for the past 25 years. It has always offered performance that can rival some of the finest hot hatchbacks on the market, but in a package that’s just as easy to live with as the A3 it’s based on. As such, the S3 is one of the classiest hot hatches on the market, and oozes premium character. Sitting one rung down from the range-topping RS3, the S3 focuses on offering a better blend of performance and everyday usability. There’s even the choice of traditional five-door hatchback or a four-door saloon body style.

  Audi Q8 e-tron

  Audi Q7

  The Audi Q7 is such a feature on UK roads that it's difficult to imagine a time when it wasn't around. Before the launch of the first-generation Q7 of 2005-2015, though, there were no SUVs wearing the famous four-ring badge. The current model is only the second Q7 ever built, and has been on sale since 2015. That's a long time for an Audi, but it has been updated frequently over the past decade. The Q7 received a heavy overhaul in 2019 with refreshed styling and a completely new dashboard, while in 2024 it got few styling, tech and lighting upgrades. Thanks to these, the Q7 can still hold its own in the premium large SUV sector.
