Expert Opinion

A predecessor to the range that now makes Hyundai one of the fastest growing and most satisfying car manufacturers around, the Matrix is a mini-MPV that today suffers from having dated slightly. It is still worth considering for its comfortable interior, composed nature at cruising speed and relatively efficient diesel engines. It might not quite have the same appeal now - with plenty of equally spacious crossover SUVs to contend with - but the Matrix remains a practical, comfortable family car.
