Expert Opinion

The Xsara name might now be most readily associated with its Picasso badged, MPV variant, but its life began as a superb family hatchback which was produced between 1997 and 2006. Looks-wise it has certainly dated fairly heavily, but on the road it is competent, offers a dynamic and responsive ride, and is refined and sedate at all times. Steep depreciation was a problem with Xsaras when they were first released, but now available only on the used market, they present an excellent value-for-money option; if fashion and looks aren't too large a requirement.
