Volkswagen Polo reviews

I don't drive much, (average 500 miles per month) but occasionally I have to drive a longer journey of 50 - 100 miles. So this is the car for me;basic, economic to run, totally reliable and comfortable without being luxurious. No extras, just A to B with the minimum of fuss. I know through experience that it will about ten or so years before the maintenance costs will outweigh the car's reliability and I'll be forced to get a new vehicle.

The car is reliable' well equipped and finished. No rattles so far. The cabin has a surprisingly spacious feel for a small car. The 1.4l engine could be livlier but is reasonably economic on fuel about 50mpg on long motorway drives.

Great small car. First time VW owner, will surely buy VW again.

Great for us as a retired couple with occasional small grandchildren as passengers but back seats have limited leg room for adults.

Not having owned a car for 25 years, I'm surprised by the reliability of this car,it having completed 140,000 miles. It is relatively cheap to run, although parts maintenance & servicing are expensive.

This is my fourth Polo and I love them.

Very good car for my purposes. Usually only one or two people in it, I've retired so I no longer commute. Excellent car for my needs.

Really nippy and a nice car to drive. It's not all mod cons - no electric windows etc but it is a good little run around. Has passed MOT every year and is really economical to run. Great as a second car but not a lot of room in the back for passengers legs. Very good for the dog though. Have done long journeys in it and it manages well - very good mpg. Will keep it til it falls apart! Use my partners car for long journeys and travelling abroad as it is more comfortable but for local, daily use, you can't beat my polo!

Got it 2 months,run very smooth and save more fuel than my old car

VW Polo a great little motor,economical on fuel,tax and insurance is quite low as well. It's such a good looking car and drives very well. All in all I would buy another VW.

It was a massive change to switch from Corsa to Polo. The VW Polo is a very reliable and responsive car. Driving it is very pleasant. The standard version comes with a rather high spec that makes driving the Polo very enjoyable. After folding back the seats there is plenty of space (I was able to transport all appliances for my kitchen myself). The dashboard is well designed and everything is easy to use. The car is not that good on corners when you drive fast, it's a slightly unpleasant feeling. I had this car for 3 years and I sold it for a very good price compared to what I paid and never needed to fix anything so it was very good investment.
