Pretty economical on fuel,very comfortable drive position,only complaint I have is glove box not big enough.

Only bad fault is higher than expected road noise.

I have found this car to be great value for money. I have to drive quite a bit for work (25K+ miles per year) and for the power it delivers and the fuel economy seen I would find it hard to find a better car for the money. It is comfortable and smooth to drive. It is even big enough to take a family of 4 to southern France for a weeks holiday. It is a pleasure to drive. I have driven many cars including many new/nearly new high spec cars, all great to drive but all costing a good 20 to 30% more to purchase.

My son then my daughter had this Astra before me. It's a good car and has certainly covered some miles. It is cheap to insure now and does about 500 miles on a full tank of diesel. It's been reliable and reasonably comfortable for long journeys.

Very good medium family car, smaller engine underpowered. Finish and trim very good. Equipment levels good. Dealer helpful. Only downside is a poor gearbox.

This is a very comfortable, well spaced vehicle. Running costs are lower than expected. Fuel economy better than the Renault Clio I used to have. Easy to maintain. Kept to the speed limits it performs very well.

A car which is practical (I bought it for the size of the boot having large breed dogs) but not exciting in any way. It isnt particularly economical and the interior is typically bring - but it does it's job. Don't expect the 1600 engine to wow you - it is never going to.

A comfortable, reliable car. The seating is perfect and very adjustable. A smooth ride and great all-round visibility. First class accessories including a Sport gear - the car has an automatic gear system. The downside is the petrol consumption which is very high for a car of this type.

For economy streamlining of cars has resulted in much poorer rearward visibility. The driver is lower in the car and the improved safety provided by safety belts and head restraints has added to that. Wing mirrors well in front of the driver were always better than having to turn your head, as is now. So rear sensors have become a necessity

Well designed estate car; provides plenty of space. Although rather basic, got the SXi, so looks good with alloy wheels & leather steering wheel. Fuel economy not great, but I do lots of short journeys with little motorway driving. Service costs relatively low. No major repairs required.

I have owned the SRI Turbo version of the Astra since new. It has proved to be a very reliable car and fun to drive. I have not had any problems at all. It is serviced anually ,under waranty, every 12 months and just had its 1st MOT.

I have had this car for just three months and find that it very comfortable with adequate space for us. Having changed from diesel I find that this car lacks just a little of the Oomph compared with the Diesel 1700.

The Astra is a reliable vehicle, economical, relatively cheap to run against my previous car and I have recommended it to friends

Vauxhall Astra is a comfortable and reliable car.

Good overall car. Easy to drive. Suitable for both short and long distance driving. Good overall mileage return.

Its a good reliable car-econmic for its size but is spoilt by very poor use of space inside i.e no compartments or places to put the usual needs (sunglasses-change-maps -directions- phone-Handbag(ladies) Very poor conversion to estate car i.e the back seats do not fold flat. The gear ratios are such that in a 30 m.p.h. area it is in between gears

A good all round car. Great fuel consumption, around 55mpg. Only down side on runninmg costs is the road tax. Mostly reliable. Have needed to get a replacement gearbox.

Mycar is a 1996 astra and still going strong. If you need a cheap reliable car then this is a good choice for small families.

the car performs as i expected it to do

We have had the car for three years now, it has been very reliable in that time. It's a nice car to drive and feels safe.
