Honda CR-V reviews

A comfortable and reliable car, with excellent ratings in every field except fuel economy.

I have used this car for work where I travelled all over the country carrying colleges and work equipment in comfort for both driver and passengers. Really usefull features like two entry ways into the spacious boot, large door opening or hatch window opening. Flat floor space throughout the whole cabin giving a feeling of space on long journeys with five adults plus lougage. I have also used it sucssfully for holidays in this country with family plus two dogs. Comfortable driving position with a high level of vision makes long journeys a pleasure. Good fuel consumption for an automatic.

It has every gadget we could wish for. It offers the right combination of fuel efficiency and acceleration when you ask for it. It's much more comfortable on long journeys than the estate car we had before. But what surprised us after we bought the CR-V was how much our children loved it. The height of the rear seats means they can see out much better, which gives our son plenty to look at and helps with my daughter's travel sickness. We love it and we expect to keep it for a long time.

a good practical reliable all rounder

She's an old bird at this stage (14 years) and has without doubt lost a few bhp but still runs like a dream. The unlocking mechanism plays up in hot and cold weather, the clock on the dashboard no longer works and she drinks petrol. But she still looks good, the engine is perfect, she ticks over almost silently, warms up quickly and is a really great vehicle to have in the snow. One of the best features? - the boot is a removable picnic table...genius. Best car I've ever had and I'd get another.

This car (94,000 miles) has had an annual service by the local Main Dealer, from whom it was purchased new. It lives outside and has been wholly reliable, other than the air condioning which has packed up and is too expensive to repair. (The cost would be more than the value of the car!) I have just replaced the window winder motor on the drivers door. The only cons are that service costs and parts are very expensive!

reliable and comfortable

I really like the CRV it is my second both bought new, the only let down is the fuel consumption, which averages about 35mpg. For my next car a 4x4 with a better than 40mpg will be sought!

Our 2004 2.0 CRV Ex is a capable vehicle, mainly, as we are getting on a bit with troublesome joints,the sills are higher and access is easy and straightforward for us. The ride is comfortable (after a Honda Accord Sport), and all-round vision is good, except for the rear middle headrest, which I have taken out temporarily to aid rear vision. Controls are easily reached and the electrically-heated seats are a boon! Being an automatic, it is easy to drive and the miles drift by with no manual gear-changing stress. Petrol consumption is acceptable as we are both retired and it is used for recreational purposes only. The only complaint we have is the side hinged rear door, which is inconvenient if a car is parked too close at the rear. All in all, an easy to live with vehicle but the new generation seems a bit claustrophobic by comparison - but designs move on.

Very happy with my car. It is reliable and feels safe and comfortable

Bought the car because I wanted a reliable, comfortable and reliable car. This is the second CR-V I have owned and this one is more advanced than the previous. MPG is much better and comfort is equally as good. The boot is spacious and better layout than the previous version. The engine is extremely quiet especially for a diesel model, gearbox is smooth and gear change is effortless. Road holding is good and cornering also. Technology is typical Honda, lots of gizmos. The auto position on the headlights is particularly interesting as it changes from full beam to dipped even when it senses lights from oncoming vehicles. The DAB radio is really efficient but does trip out on occasions although it quickly resets itself.

100% reliable

I have owned my Honda for 10 years and it is the most trouble free car I have ever owned. I wish I had a better gas milage car but other than that I have no faults with the car. It drives great. I only have 42000 miles on the car and expect to drive it at least 5 more years.

I find the car a solid, comfortable & practical car for my needs.

The CRV is built solidly with a bomb-proof engine (especially if you change the transmission fluid at appropriate intervals). It's got a comfortable interior with plenty of features laid out in an intuitive pattern - the heightened ride gives slightly better vision on the road too. The downside of the higher suspension is some noticeable roll when you take corners at speed - it can be alarming at first but you learn to drive within the cars' capabilities (and your own!). The engine has lots of power though - it can get you into and out of difficulty very quickly and smoothly. It tends to drink petrol however - mpg in the 20's costs plenty if you use it frequently on longer journeys. Servicing costs at independent garages seem reasonable - with not much out of the expected going wrong - even in an old car like mine. It feels safe, it feels solid and I like this old car very much.

This is a brilliant car. It has only let me down once in the 8 years I have had the car and that was recently when the original battery failed. It is easy to drive although the rear view when reversing could be better. If I want to carry a lot, the back seats can be quickly folded forward. Even when using all the seats some extra space can be made available by sliding the rear seats forward. My car has now done 150,000 miles and if they are all like this I would happily recommend this model of CR-V to anybody.

Great car, this is my fourth, will be getting another when the time comes.

This is a joy to drive, with sufficient capacity for a family of five plus assorted pets and luggage! Totally reliable and would definitely have another.
