Life on tarmac suits the Patriot better, and with a huge 536 litre boot, its appeal as a spacious-yet-capable family vehicle are clear. It isn't too expensive to run, either - considering it is a SUV. The CRD tubrodiesel model returns an impressive 42.4mpg while only emitting 180g/km. Suffering fairly steep depreciation, they can be off putting to new buyers, but on the used market they are superb value.
