Overall rating 4.5/5
One of the smaller SUVs on offer by the inventor of the 4X4, the JEEP Cherokee is a rugged vehicle which boasts impressive off road ability; setting it apart from much of the rest of the modern SUV market.

Overall rating 4.5/5On the road it isn't the most comfortable, and a clunky ride and distant steering make it feel a bit like a fish out of water - off road it is far more comfortable. The 2.8 litre CRD diesel - the only option in most Cherokees - is relatively refined at cruising speed however, while it impresses with the level of power it provides off road. A new generation, set for release in 2014, brings about a softer look to the traditionally traditionally boxy car, but ability - as is expected with all cars bearing the Jeep badge - is robust, rugged, and game for anything you can throw at it. Although having been out of production since 2001, a new generation is set for release in 2014.
