For over 30 years, Fiat's Panda has been an accessible, versatile and fun ride for city drivers. Low insurance, emissions and fuel consumption make the Panda a financial no-brainer.

Overall rating 4.5/5Today, those considering a Panda should opt for the post 2003 (aka New Panda) model. More ergonomic, fuel efficient and, well, prettier, the car lifted The European Car of the Year Award in 2004. If you're buzzing around town all the Panda's engines (combined with ultra-light steering) will do the trick but if you're looking to travel a little further afield with any regularity, go for the 1.3 diesel. If you've got slightly deeper pockets, you should opt for the up-spec Trekking model or the Panda 4x4, the only city car to offer all-wheel drive.
