Expert Opinion

Part of the relaunched Ssangyong range, the Rexton was introduced to Europe in 2003 and was based on the existing chassis (although slightly extended) of the Musso. Like that car, the Rexton is a large (seven seats), able and slightly unrefined SUV, which copes well off road but struggles on it. Although a far cry from the more popular soft roader SUVs of today's market, the Rexton is a a bit more basic and functional than the comfort of a Range Rover or even a Qashqai. But, in its 2.7 litre turbodiesel engine there is power and reliability, which means that the Rexton is a car that will go for as long as you can.
