  Designed to take on the likes of the Tesla Model S, Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT, Mercedes' EQS is pretty much the pinnacle of the brand’s electric innovation so far. Dubbed the German outfit’s ‘most high-tech car ever’ when it launched back in 2021, the EQS sits at the top of Mercedes’ EQ range of luxury EVs and offers a more eco-friendly alternative to the long-established S-Class. The car is available in both saloon and SUV body styles and combines cutting-edge luxury and technology with a near-silent driving experience to deliver one of the best all-round packages money can buy. It looks great, offers some of the best battery tech around and is the latest word in a long history of market-leading German engineering.

  Mercedes GLA

  The Mercedes-Benz GLA was first launched way back in 2013 with the current, second generation car arriving in late 2019. As the most compact SUV in the German brand’s line-up, the original GLA was effectively just a raised A-Class hatchback. The new GLA is taller, roomier and more SUV-like in stature, making it a far more worthy competitor in a crowded field, which includes competition from the likes of the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Volvo XC40.

  Mercedes GLB

  It’s arguably not the most handsome vehicle in its class, but the Mercedes-Benz GLB is certainly one of the most practical, as well as having a premium feel. Spun off from the A-Class platform, the compact luxury SUV is also one of few vehicles in its class to offer a seven-seat option. Its boxy body isn’t exactly elegant, but it maximizes interior space, making it one of the few cars in its class to offer anywhere near as much space, and despite its tall appearance the A-Class underpinnings mean it handles with surprising vigour. Advanced MBUX technology and decent ride comfort also make it stand out.

  It may have the presence of a van, but the Mercedes-Benz V-Class is one of the most luxurious vehicles you can buy in many respects, and is highly customisable with multiple seating configurations. It’s particularly popular in the VIP chauffeur and airport transfer businesses as a result, where the spaciousness, high quality trim and sheer space on offer make it stand out, as does the brand cachet of that Mercedes-Benz badge. Available in Long and Extra Long body-styles, it offers genuine space for up to eight adults and their luggage, with a choice of powerful diesel engines or the fully electric EQV for those looking for an electric alternative.

  Mercedes SL

  In the world of high-performance GT cars, the Mercedes SL is the one with the enviable history. Its lineage goes all the way back to the 1950s with the legendary 300SL “Gullwing”, with every generation since mostly keeping true to its original purpose – a glamorous grand tourer with sports car power. For the current generation, launched in 2022, Mercedes has tried to add a more hardcore performance kick to the cocktail. This SL was designed and engineered by Mercedes-AMG – the German carmaker’s performance and motorsports division, and, as such, there’s a more of a laser focus on driving dynamics to make the SL more of a rival to a Porsche 911, for example.
