The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has confirmed that the number of cars built in the UK last month increased by 42% than during the same spell last year. The figures are the highest May total since 2004.
SMMT CE Paul Everitt enthused: “This boost, coupled with robust year-to-year results, demonstrates the strength of the UK automotive manufacturing industry and shows why it continues to attract high levels of international investment.”
Of the 141,000 cars built in the UK, 120,000 were for export.
