Winter is coming. Although summer may be the most popular season for car shows, there are still plenty of car events going on throughout the cold seasons. There may not be as much choice as in summer, but there are still plenty of UK based and international winter car shows taking place that will excite and interest petrol heads. We’ve picked out some of our favourites here.
When: 13 to 15 October
Where: Melbourne, Australia
In many ways this is actually a summer car show, as Down Under the weather is heating up. Still, Motorclassica takes place as we move into winter, so we’re counting it. It’s the country’s largest event of vintage, classic and exotic vehicles, featuring the best models and collections from across Australia. Expect to find plenty of dazzling Jaguars, BMWs, Ferraris and more on display in the big and classy indoor exhibition space.
Classic Motor Show
When: 10 to 12 November
Where: NEC Birmingham
As the weather gets worse, standing outside in a cold, wet field looking at cars can be quite unappealing. That’s why the Classic Motor Show at Birmingham’s NEC Arena is so good, as it’s all indoors in the massive exhibition hall. Dry and relatively warm, you’ll be comfortable enough to walk around and look at more than 2,000 classic cars, trade stands and even get behind the wheel of an iconic vehicle. Silverstone auctions return, offering the chance to buy classic cars, luxury watches, memorabilia and more.
Malvern Drive-In Classic
When: 26 November
Where: Malvern, Worcestershire, UK
The last Malvern Drive In Classic Car and Bike Autojumble of the year offers the chance to find rare car parts and accessories in Wye Halls, Worcestershire. Up to 80 stalls will be present in the large showground, with food and drink for sale too and plenty to look around during your time visiting. Plus, for any dog owners your pooches are welcome on a lead too.
The Christmas Cracker at Manchester
When: 2 to 3 December
Where: Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester
The Christmas Cracker is perfect for those doing some last-minute Christmas shopping for car lovers. A free heritage bus service is put on from Manchester Victoria railway station, with double decker buses from the 1960s and 70s. In the museum, there will be hundreds of stalls selling everything from books and photos to memorabilia about transport. All indoors to avoid the frosty climate.
When: 11 to 14 January
Where: NEC Birmingham
One of the first car shows of 2018 in the UK is Autosport International at Birmingham’s NEC Arena. The first two days are trade only, with a mixture of talks, workshops and more from the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) and the chance to network. The final two days are open to the public, with different show zones covering everything from the history of motorsport to performance car shows, simulators and careers and education.
North American International Auto Show
When: 13 to 28 January
Where: Detroit, USA
Also known as the Detroit Motor Show, this is one of the largest car events in North America at the home of motoring in the USA. The North American International Auto Show plays host to many of the world’s top automotive executives, designers and engineers. It’s essentially six shows in one over two weeks, starting with the luxury guest event with a collection of over $10 million cars displayed before the industry, charity and public shows. Talks, demonstrations, vehicles and more make it perfect for any automobile lover.
All of these winter shows could inspire you to buy a used car and here at AA Cars we have a wide selection for sale. Whether you’re after local or international car events, there’s still plenty going on this winter.
