The prices attained for used ex-fleet and dealer vehicles started and stayed strong throughout the summer, it has been reported.
According to British Car Auctions (BCA), part-exchange vehicles sold for an average of under £3,250 – a figure "well ahead year on year".
Once the season ended, demand went up as September began, the BCA added.
Mark Hankey, sales director for the firm, commented that the activity is positive as the summer usually represents a quieter time for business.
"Average prices achieved at our sales held up well over the summer and the best vehicles continued to be sought after and attract good prices relative to their condition, specification and mileage," he said.
In July, the BCA reported that interest in used 4×4 vehicles remained firm.
This comes despite recent regulation introduced meaning that people driving higher-polluting vehicles will have to pay more in tax, it added.
