Life on Mars comes to Classic Motor Show

Fans of the hit television series Life on Mars will soon be able to get a closer look at the vehicle most prominently featured in it.

The 1974 Ford Cortina, driven by Sam Tyler and Gene Hunt, will be on display at the 2007 Classic Motor Show, held at the Birmingham NEC between the November 9th and 11th.

Collector Paul Sheddon from Darlaston will be supplying the vehicle after he paid £10,000 on auction website eBay to secure it for himself.

Mr Sheddon commented that one of the true pleasures of owning the machine is the joy he gets when others see it.

He said: "I wanted to enjoy it on my own for a while first so I kept it to myself but I didn’t buy the car to make money out of it though and it’s a famous car that people deserve to enjoy."

While Life on Mars will not be returning to screens, a sequel titled Ashes to Ashes has been announced for 2008.
