Van and truck sales statistics saw 2007 finish with a flourish for the industry.
According to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), there were 26,047 of the vehicles sold over the course of December.
In total, this represents a 1.5 per cent increase for the year against 2006 and a 6.6 per cent rise on the same period 12 months previous.
Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive, commented on the "excellent year" in commercial vehicle sales and predicated an equally successful 2008.
"Strong order books suggest buoyant commercial vehicle registration figures for many months to come, from what proves a solidly reliable business and economic indicator," he said.
Meanwhile, statistics published by the SMMT show that carbon emissions at vehicle manufacturing sites in the UK have fallen.
In 2001, 1.3 tonnes were recorded from production and distribution, while in 2005 the figure stood at 0.6 tonnes.
