Newer Dacia models get a good level of standard safety equipment, with highlights including speed limit assistance and automatic emergency braking. Some cars get traffic sign recognition, too, which will highlight the local speed limit via the main screen ahead of the driver. The latest Dacia models are very fuel-efficient. The Duster, for example, can manage just over 51mpg, or around 46mpg if you go for a four-wheel-drive version. It has a range of around 140 miles, while new prices start from £14,995. When looking at hybrids, there’s a good range available. Models with a hybrid powertrain include the Jogger, Duster and Bigster.

Because they’re relatively simple in design, Dacia cars tend to fare well in terms of reliability. Nearly all Dacia cars are underpinned by tried-and-tested Renault systems, which means that they’re built atop platforms which are known to work well without fault.
