Top 5 tax-free cars

All cars producing less than 100g/km of CO2 emissions are now completely exempt from paying any car tax as the government aims to meet its green targets. Along with becoming a more environmentally friendly driver with one of the great eco cars available, this provides the further incentive of saving money on your vehicle.

Car manufacturers are now focusing on producing more and more vehicles at the lower end of the CO2 emission scale as drivers have more desire for tax free cars. At AA Cars we’ve picked out five of the best cars which are completely tax free.

  1. Skoda Citigo

The SE and SE L specs of the Greentech model of Skoda’s Citigo hatchback qualify for tax exemption (though the entry-level S model doesn’t). Despite the 1.0 litre engine they both deliver plenty of power for getting around urban areas and motorways for longer journeys. Cheaper than the Volkswagen up! and SEAT Mii makes it a great budget buy.

  1. Citroën C4 Cactus

If you’re after an SUV with less than 100g/km of CO2 emissions then Citroën’s C4 Cactus provides the answer. Its unique exterior, available in a range of bright colours and with plastic panel airbumps on the side that protect against damage, is coupled with plenty of substance behind the wheel and has a roomy interior too.

  1. BMW i3

BMW’s first mass-produced, zero emissions vehicle is the i3. As an electric car it has no CO2 emissions but is therefore limited in its range. 1. Jaguar XE

One of the only executive tax free cars, the Jaguar XE saloon is one of the best luxury vehicles available. Even with a 2.0 litre engine and 161bhp diesel model, it offers up to 74 mpg and looks stunning. The low running costs make it highly appealing and appropriate for professionals and car lovers alike.
