Pre-owned, nearly new RS6 Avants can be found from around £90,000 on AAcars.com, with earlier examples available from around £60,000 for a sensible mileage, five-year old example. Make no mistake; this is still a very special car and is priced as such.
The RS6 Avant has just the one engine option, but it’s truly formidable.
At its heart is a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine with mild-hybrid assistance, delivering 600bhp and 800Nm of torque. It provides blistering acceleration, launching the RS6 from 0-62 mph in just 3.6 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (optionally increased to 174 or 190 mph with performance packs).
All RS6 models come with Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system, ensuring traction in all conditions, and an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox. The mild hybrid system recovers energy under braking and can coast at speed, marginally improving efficiency in real-world use.
One of the most appealing things about the RS6is its soundtrack – with a bespoke sports exhaust system coupled to that thumping V8, it delivers an intoxicating noise that delivers a real sense of occasion every time you fire it up.
The RS6 Avant offers a dynamic and engaging driving experience. Adaptive air suspension is standard, providing a supple ride in Comfort mode and taut body control in Dynamic settings.
The steering is precise, and the car feels remarkably agile for its size, aided by rear-wheel steering and variable ratio steering on higher trims.

Body roll is well contained, and the car inspires confidence through bends, though its size and weight are always apparent.
Selectable driving modes, including Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, and Individual, allow drivers to tailor the RS6’s character to their preferences, from relaxed cruising to aggressive sportiness.

The RS6 Avant’s interior is a masterpiece, exuding the very best of Audi design, attention to detail and technology.
The cabin is spacious and luxuriously appointed, with high-quality materials, ambient lighting, and RS-specific accents. The dashboard is dominated by Audi’s dual-touchscreen MMI interface (with 10.1-inch and 8.6-inch screens), offering seamless control of navigation, infotainment, climate, and vehicle settings.
Standard features include wireless smartphone integration, digital radio, premium audio, and navigation. The RS sports seats are upholstered in Valcona leather with contrasting stitching, providing excellent support and comfort for long journeys. There’s ample room for five adults, and ISOFIX mounts are fitted to the outer rear seats.
The RS6 Avant offers an impressive 565 litres of luggage space with the rear seats in place, expanding to a cavernous 1,680 litres when folded flat.
The wide, low boot opening and powered tailgate make loading easy, while additional features like a luggage rail system and separate underfloor storage enhance practicality even further.
Cabin storage is generous, with large door bins, multiple cupholders, a spacious glovebox, and a central armrest compartment. The rear seats split 40:20:40, allowing flexible cargo and passenger combinations.
All RS6 Avants come equipped with an extensive list of standard features, including four-zone climate control, LED matrix headlights, adaptive cruise assist, and a suite of driver assistance systems.
Higher trims add a panoramic sunroof, Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system, head-up display, ventilated and massaging seats, and advanced safety technology.
Options are plentiful, allowing buyers to personalise their RS6 with features such as carbon-ceramic brakes, sports exhaust, upgraded wheels, and custom interior finishes.
The RS6 Avant is offered in three main trim levels: standard, Carbon Black, and Vorsprung.
The entry-level RS6 includes a full suite of luxury, safety, and performance features such as LED matrix headlights, adaptive air suspension, and RS styling.
Carbon Black trim adds black exterior detailing, 22-inch alloy wheels, and carbon fibre accents, with a somewhat more stealthy appearance.

The Audi RS6 Avant has not been independently crash tested by Euro NCAP, but the A6 on which it is based has achieved a five-star rating. The RS6 is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including six airbags, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Additional systems such as night vision assist, traffic sign recognition, and a 360-degree camera are standard. Audi enjoys a strong reputation for build quality and reliability, with owner surveys highlighting the RS6’s durability, though running costs and repair bills can be high due to its complexity and hefty fuel consumption.
The 4.0 TFSI V8 returns between 22.1 and 24.1 mpg (WLTP), but only if you drive it sensibly. Push hard and you’ll halve those figures. CO₂ emissions range from 276 to 283 g/km, placing the RS6 in the top road tax (VED) band at £2,365 in the first year and £620 annually thereafter for the first five years, after which it drops to £195 per year (based on 2025/6 rates).
Insurance is in the most expensive group 50, and servicing is required every 12 months or 9,000 miles, with extended service plans available. Audi provides a three-year/unlimited mileage warranty, with options for extended coverage.
